Sigmund Freud (born Sigismund Šlomo Freud) (6 May 1856 – 23 September 1939) was an Austrian neurologist who became known as the founding father of psychoanalysis, he grew up in Vienna, Austria and became a doctor of psychiatry. He has also connection to Czech Republic, where he was born in 1856 in Příbor, Nový Jičín. Early in his career he was interested in hypnosis as a cure for hysteria, believing that the symptoms were directly related to repressed psychological trauma.
