Civil aviation prospect for FDI ? Kingfisher, Jet, SpiceJet...?

Mohan Q ? : Is Indian Civil aviation a viable prospect for Foriegn Equity participation?

Dear Mohan, as you are working in this field you are more professional than me. Generally my private opinion is that even increase ideas from 26% on 49%, it is still minority for FDI. The Civil Aviation Ministry has recommended 49% FDI in aviation - February 2012. So who knows. Anyway Aviation stock jump after this FDI increasing information. Stocks of Jet Airways and Kingfisher traded nearly 2.5 percent higher in opening session, it was during the Dec 2011. Now as we can see is Feb 2012 and Ministry starting "thinking" about 49%. So it means, that FDI is require. But international airlines don´t has a so much interest in low profit in domestic airlines. You know how is the situation globally with international airlines. So in my opinion FDI is not interesting in domestic airlines. Most of the new FDI will be used for old "things" and mainly bank loans, some revitalization action, but where will be the profit, how can be reach interesting ROI % ? I don´t think so. Maybe some new technology, or some New or Renovate Airport BOT (build-operate-transfer), PPP. You know how it is with Kingfisher Airlines, SpiceJet, and heroic Jet. Kingfisher in Nov 2011 has suffered a loss of Rs.1027 crores ($200 million) in the past fiscal year, adding to its mounting debt. Time seems to be running out NOT only for Kingfisher Airlines. Fuel, Tax, Employee, etc. I remember in Europe some bankruptcy like lowcost airlines SkyEurope (2010) from Bratislava, Slovakia and others. Some Airlines need help from local Goverments like Alitalia, etc. But it was 2009 - 2010. Now here in India is 2012. So hope India will be O.K. also in this sector. All the best to you.

Indian history Independence Movement and "India's 63rd Republic Day"

"The Uprising of Indian Independence Movement -- A Fight for Freedom" is a tribute to our national leaders and freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for . . .
History has to teach us and we have to accept it:

Here is India's 63rd Republic Day Parade (26/01/2012)

European dream "Something for Nothing" finishing and helping FDI in India

The situation in Europe is as it is and it is results of many years of philosophy "SOMETHING FOR NOTHING", now we know (European) that even best social programs and super promises before all elections are only lies and dreams of politicis and people who voted them. So the question is: Who will SAVE THE EUROPE ?
I think the important thing is that people out of Europe don´t know, that even you sleeping at home and watching TV you get a money, you get a money for  sleeping all day, you get a money for children, so better have a minimum 10 childrens ;-), you get a money for accomodation, education, hospitals, for everything !!! So you could only sleep, lie and do nothing... YES, that´s true, depend on which EU country you could have more than 40.000 -60.000 INR monthly for lie in your bed ... and watching TV ;-)
If you done business in EU, you know how is the real effectiveness of work, and if you don´t know you CAN´T imagine... But pls. don´t idealize the EU.
So, now people are angry, because somebody told them that it is the end of the European dream "Something for Nothing" and will be better to start working and take care everybody for them self ... and how this story finish ?! We will see . . . Mr. Jose Manuel Durao Barroso is hoping that India will be much more liberalize in next few years and this will be helping a lot to EU . . . But India is clever and protect first of all their interests, their business and opening doors in little steps ...

Some facts about EU and India relations:
The EU and India hope to increase their trade in both goods and services and investment through the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations that they launched in 2007. Negotiations are expected to be concluded in early 2012.
"Europe is India's largest source of foreign direct investment with a stock of 34.4 billion euros and India's investments in Europe is also fast reaching 7 billion euros. There is scope to grow much more.
"European FDI in India for instance is half the amount of that in China, or a quarter of that in Russia, or a fifth of that in Brazil," European Commission President Jose Manuel Durao Barroso said at a conference 'EU-India: A strategic relationship in an evolving world' organised by FICCI.
EU investment in India is bigger than that of the US and Japan combined, Barroso said.
The European Union is India's first partner in terms of trade and investment - in 2010 the European Union imported over 40 billion Euros worth of goods and services from India.
Overall bilateral trade amounted to 87.3 bn Euros. The first ten months of 2011 showed continued growth in EU trade with India. Exports and imports both grew by 20 per cent between the first ten months of 2010 and the same period of 2011, with exports amounting to 33.4 bn and imports to 33.3 bn.

Europe is also one of India's major partners in the field of economic and development cooperation, particularly in the areas of education and social actions, Barroso said.
"The recent evolution of the trade figures between us is impressive, but there is potential to have much larger flow of goods and investment. In times of global uncertainty, creating such economic anchors is of paramount importance," he said.

Here YOU can download some more information - Economic Indicators between EU and India.
As you can see the coins has a two sides as this  people don´t like FTA

The EU-India FTA
With its combination of rapid growth and relatively high market protection India was an obvious partner for one of the new generation of EU FTAs launched as part of the Global Europe strategy in 2006.
The parameters for an ambitious FTA were set out in the report of the EU-India High Level Trade Group in October 2006, which was tasked with assessing the viability of an FTA between the EU and India. Other studies have reinforced the economic potential of an FTA between the EU and India.

Negotiations for such FTA were launched in June 2007 and, so far, eleven negotiating rounds have been held. The last EU-India Summit took place on 10 December 2010 in Brussels.

EU technical and financial trade assistance to India

To assist India in continuing its efforts to better integrate into the world economy with a view to further enhancing bilateral trade and investment ties, the EU is providing trade related technical assistance to India. €13.4million were allocated through the Trade and Investment Development Programme (TIDP) funded from the Country Strategy Paper (CSP) 2002-2006. At present, the follow-up programme to the TIDP is being designed and will be funded by the Country Strategy Paper 2007-2013.

India is on the TOP in HNI population !

India among Top 12 nations in HNI population !

As per Asia-Pacific Wealth Report, the number of India’s high net worth individuals (HNI) grew by 20.8% in 2010, making a cut in to top 12 nations in terms of HNI population.

Not surprisingly, Asia-Pacific region recorded the strongest regional rate in the world in terms of HNI population growth last year.

India had experienced the world’s largest declines in HNI population and wealth during 2008 global economic crisis. However, in 2009, Indian HNI wealth recorded a brisk growth by 22% to $582 billion backed by strong growth in domestic market.

In FY10, the HNI population of the world’s largest democratic country grew to 1.53 lakh, from 1.26 lakh in 2009. Interestingly, China, Japan and Australia accounted for almost three-quarters of the Asia-Pacific HNI population.

***High net worth individual (HNWI or HNI) are generally rich or wealthy people with more money and assets, traditionally these people were called as millionaires or billionaires but these days the term high net-worth individuals is used by the financial services to denote an individual with high net worth. High net worth ,means your Credit worthiness ,as Banks or other financial institution rate you by looking at your Actual assets Liquid/Fixed.

FDI in retail scares Indian bulk market

New Delhi: With the debate on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail refusing to die down in the Parliament, the trader associations have alleged that foreign companies making an entry into the retail sector will also gulp the bulk market along with domestic retail industry.
Alarmingly, more than 6 crore small and big companies may drastically suffer the aftershocks of the FDI being allowed in Indian retail sector.
Indian Trade and Industry Association President Shyam Bihari Mishra questioned, “Will the foreign companies be able to understand the relationship between a consumer and a merchant?”
Trade unions have sped up their preparations to impose a nation-wide bandh to protest against the FDI in multi-brand retail sector, drawing support from the opposition parties.
According to Mishra, the move claiming to benefit farmers is just a myth as international retail companies will purchase agricultural products from farmers with minimum land holding of 10 hectares. Expressing shock, he added, there are just a few farmers with such a large amount of land holding in our country.”
Mishra said, the Centre must issue a White Paper in this regard and must mention the achievements of foreign companies in the retail sector and their social interests.
The foreign companies to come up in retail sector will bring with them high end transportation conveyance based on advanced technology. They will use machines for loading and unloading goods leaving our porters unemployed.
Mishra also accused the Centre of interfering in the state jurisdiction. The states cannot debar the foreign companies from entry in an open trade agreement with India, as the matter can be complained to the World Trade Organisation.
